Hope

I came across this slightly Oprahish YouTube video, but somehow I liked it.....

Vampires, etc

Signs of the times. A new category at the bookstore: Vampires, etc. Separate to sci fi and fantasy. And of my own PFC, I did not buy the hardcover Neil Gaiman I would have liked to but, instead, a paperback Charlaine Harris. (Yes, it was in that new section!)

Craft Swap Joy

I'm taking part in a craft swap (part of the Dust Team on Etsy). A beautiful cushion arrived from Rachelle (miahenry). Hope my offering provides half as much excitement.

My Butterfly flies out into the world

Just when you think that you're just adding your grain of sand to the mountain out there on the net, somebody notices you! In other words, it was very very nice to be included in an Etsy Treasury

Drinking coffee in front of the fan

All children at school, the plumbers have gone, the bank account is empty and we are back to reality. Perhaps I need a little more of the hope Richard Glover wrote about on Saturday.

A resolution of sorts

I have determined that corporate weirdness will not overwhelm me and my time in 2009. (You know the kind of thing I mean, conversations with the bank, with the phone company, strange letters received announcing some type of truly inconvenient innovation.) Just how this will be so without opting out of society altogether, I'm not quite sure. Have been reading a bit of Garrison Keillor this holidays and admire (amongst many things) the way in which he, or his characters, sometimes just let things slide and sometimes decide to take a stand. A fine balance, and one not easily achieved I am sure. A memorable quote from 2008 (actually from a little before then, but I have only just caught up) "Be kind because everyone is fighting a great battle." (Philo of Alexandria) If only the battle wasn't against mindless automatons.
